K.A. Javid & Co Accountants

Accounting built around how you work.

Most of our work falls into a handful of situations. Find the one closest to yours, or call us and describe it — we'll tell you honestly what's involved.

Sole traders

You are the business. That usually means one set of records, one tax return, and very little time to think about either.

What’s usually needed

  • Keeping records of income and expenses through the year
  • A self assessment return each January
  • VAT once turnover passes the threshold
  • Digital record keeping as Making Tax Digital is extended

Where people need a hand

  • Knowing which costs can actually be claimed
  • Setting money aside for a tax bill that arrives months later
  • Paperwork piling up until the deadline is close

Limited companies

A company brings more obligations and more dates. We keep the accounts, tax and payroll running to the same timetable.

What’s usually needed

  • Statutory accounts filed at Companies House
  • A corporation tax return and payment to HMRC
  • Payroll and pension duties for directors and staff
  • VAT returns where registered

Where people need a hand

  • Two separate filing deadlines to track
  • Deciding between salary and dividends
  • Keeping company and personal money properly separate

Partnerships

Where two or more people run a business together, the partnership and each partner both have reporting to do. [CONFIRM SERVICE]

What’s usually needed

  • Partnership accounts for the business
  • A partnership return alongside individual returns
  • Agreeing how profits are split and recorded

Where people need a hand

  • Keeping partner drawings and profit shares straight
  • Coordinating deadlines across several people

Landlords

One flat or a portfolio, the rental income has to be reported and the right costs claimed.

What’s usually needed

  • Rental accounts per property or across the portfolio
  • Property pages within a self assessment return
  • Reporting a sale or disposal

Where people need a hand

  • Telling a repair apart from an improvement
  • Restricted relief on mortgage interest
  • Jointly owned property and how income is split

Individuals

Not every tax question comes from running a business. Sometimes you just need a return prepared properly.

What’s usually needed

  • Self assessment where income sits outside PAYE
  • Pension, dividend or savings income to report
  • Capital gains on a sale

Where people need a hand

  • Working out whether a return is needed at all
  • Understanding an HMRC letter
  • Getting a coding notice corrected
