Making Tax Digital is changing how some businesses report their figures.
Making Tax Digital means keeping records digitally and sending figures to HMRC through compatible software, rather than writing up a summary once a year. It already applies to VAT registered businesses, and it is being extended to income tax for some sole traders and landlords.
Start dates and income levels are set by HMRC and have moved more than once, so the practical question is usually a simple one: does it apply to you, and from when. [VERIFY AGAINST CURRENT HMRC GUIDANCE BEFORE PUBLISHING]
